• Anxiety

A small amount of fear, anxiety or nervousness is quite normal in situations that we would find challenging but many people experience these feelings to such a degree that their whole life is affected. It can even begin to feel really scary and some may develop anxiety and panic attacks which feel awful. Anxious thoughts and feelings can also develop into OCD (obsessive hand-washing, counting, cleaning, door checking and more) Thankfully, all the therapies I work with can give really good results with Anxiety and OCD. I can help you: identify any underlying problems producing anxiety; reduce fear during certain trigger events; improving your awareness and response to stress; improving confidence and feelings of wellbeing and develop coping mechanisms to help you regain control of your feelings.

  • Addictions

Most of us have bad habits, but sometimes, these habits, which we sometimes use to help us cope with life, can develop into addictions.  Common addictions include alcohol, gambling, sugar, shopping, vaping, hair pulling etc.  It is important to look at the needs the addiction is serving and why it came about in the first place to ensure those needs are met and alternative coping strategies are put in place. Hypnotherapy and NLP then work beautifully to assist the brain in putting new neural pathways in place to allow the person alternatives to the addiction.  Aversion therapy can also be used in cases.

  • Confidence & Self Esteem

All too often, we struggle to see just how amazing we are which may or may not stem from incidents in the past or the way we have been treated. A combination of all the therapies I work with can help to break the ties past events have on us, and set ourselves free to see ourselves as we really are – we can build your confidence then in any area of your life that you need. Perhaps you are going for a promotion, perhaps you want to start dating, perhaps you want to stand up for yourself and become more assertive, or maybe you have a speech to give!. The possibilities are endless.

  • Changing Habits

There are so many unhelpful habits that we can have – we can bite our nails, pick our fingers, chew the inside of our lips or cheeks, pull out our hair or eyelashes. Maybe we drink too much fizzy juice, eat too much chocolate to name but a few. Hypnotherapy helps by putting in place a new behaviour that isn’t harmful and creating new neural pathways so the transition is as easy as possible for you. I will help you identify trigger points for the old behaviour so you are more aware of any risks and changes that you want to make to your routines.

  • Depression

Depression is so awful and affects a great number of people. Depressive thoughts lead to depressive moods and depressive moods lead to depressive thoughts and so it can go on. Our depression may be as a direct result of a trauma, or an event, or it may be a clinical depression. Whichever it is, Hypnotherapy can help by starting to challenge and change those thoughts, while replacing them with more realistic and honest ones. It can help to lighten your mood and begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You can feel more in control of your life, have an increase in energy and motivation and begin to enjoy life again.

  • Emotional Healing & Balance

In this category are things like anger management, controlling jealousy, building trust, letting go of the past, self-forgiveness, dealing with guilt, feelings of failure, dealing with rejection, feelings of abandonment and more. Hypnotherapy is an excellent therapy for these issues as even allowing yourself to go in to trance, brings the mind and the body so much relaxation and peace that the unconscious mind can begin to heal already. This coupled with positive suggestions and the space to explore beliefs and our perceptions on the situation, allows the unconscious to put changes in place to allow us to see things in a different and more positive way. It also builds your self-esteem, allowing you to feel freer and more at peace.

  • Fears & Phobias

A fear can be described as an emotion experienced in anticipation of some specific pain or danger. A phobia could be described as an extreme irrational fear of a thing or given situation. Some fears/phobias are triggered by a past traumatic experience At other times, they are created by the person’s thinking, , even if real life experiences are at teroot of the fear/phobia. This thinking maintains and determines the severity of it. There will usually be strong avoidance behaviour connected with the far accompanied by anxiety, loss of control and panic. There are thousands of fears/phobias including : Spiders, Flying, Water, Heights, Enclosed Spaces, Open Spaces, Crowds, Birds, Darkness, Cats, Clowns, Needles, Dentists, Vomiting, Death, and many more.

Hypnosis and suggestion therapy can help you overcome these fears, leaving you feel less anxious, more in control and more self confident.

  • Fertility

Hypnosis is often used when clients are experiencing unexplained infertility. Stressful thoughts and worries have the ability to interfere with our body’s natural functioning and so we use this mind-body connection to help alleviate any physical or emotional worries or concerns. Hypnotherapy can also be used when receiving fertility treatment to improve the chances of success and during pregnancy, Hypnotherapy can help you relax, take care of your wellbeing and help prepare you for a smooth and straightforward birth.

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome

There have been a number of studies using Hypnotherapy or gut directed therapy for the treatment of IBS showing extremely good results. IBS can be affected by stress, so it is good to look at the balance you have in your life and how that can be improved too. Hypnotherapy sessions aim to increase feelings of relaxation and wellbeing which benefits both the mind and the body. We will also look at how your diet affects your IBS as everyone is different, and look at different ways to keep any stress under control.

  • Mind-Body Healing

Hypnotherapy can help the unconscious mind to make changes needed to assist in healing or overcoming physical issues. The creative visualisation in Hypnotherapy is the key. Issues like pain, cancer, heart conditions etc have all been seen to improve in many cases when Hypnotherapy has been used alongside medical treatments, by helping the client get into the positive frame of mind needed to get the best out of their health.

  • Pain Management

Therapies that address the mind-body link are often recommended for those dealing with long-term pain. Stress and anxiety are common side effects of pain and can even make the sensation feel worse. The way the mind responds to pain also links to the perception of physical sensations.
Helping to reduce stress and change the thought patterns related to pain can therefore make a huge difference to pain perception. For this, many opt for hypnotherapy.

When you are under hypnosis you focus on relaxation and letting go of distracting thoughts. This temporarily tunes out the conscious part of your mind, opening you up to the power of suggestion. At this point your hypnotherapist can make suggestions to encourage pain relief. Most hypnotherapists will also give post-hypnotic suggestions, allowing you to carry out self-hypnosis after your sessions end. It is recommended that you speak to your GP to diagnose and discuss symptoms before making an appointment for hypnotherapy.

  • Sports Performance

Everyone knows that being a successful athlete involves maintaining high levels of physical fitness. However, this is only part of the strategy required for success. According to research, sports performance has more to do with mental abilities than physical abilities. To many people this may sound like a strange concept, but thousands of sports people have recognised the power of their mental state having a positive effect on their sports performance. Hypnosis has been used for many years to help professional athletes enhance their natural ability.

The use of hypnosis for sports performance has had a significant impact. Leading sports people from around the world - including Usain Bolt, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Andre Agassi, Greg Norman, Jimmy White and Michael Vaughan - have put their success down to using hypnosis techniques.

  • Sleep Issues

It is common to experience episodes of poor sleep, especially during times of stress, when thoughts and worries seem to go round and round in your mind. It could be that you struggle to get to sleep, or you may get to sleep easily but them waken in the night, unable to return to sleep. Sometimes, the mind seems to get noisier and busier in the middle of the night. Hypnotherapy can help you feel more comfortable and less sensitive to disturbances. It can help quiet the mind and improve relaxation.

  • Stress

Stress can affect us in many ways both emotionally and physically. Your stress may stem from a variety of things including pressures at work, relationships, illness, financial difficulties etc. Prolonged stress and anxiety can cause physical and emotional symptoms such as dizziness, tightness in the chest, aches, pains, irritability and low mood. Stress can also exacerbate many physical conditions including tinnitus, bladder problems, bowel problems. Psoriasis and other skin conditions as well as IBS. Therefore A course of Hypnotherapy sessions could help you to enjoy a sense of peace and relaxation, develop healthy coping mechanisms and ease those physical symptoms too.

  • Trauma

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a type of anxiety disorder, which typically develops after being involved in or witnessing traumatic events. Once believed to only affect those involved in war, PTSD can affect anyone.

Some people have found hypnotherapy a helpful tool to cope better with PTSD symptoms. Hypnotherapy, coupled with EMDR in particular, is thought to be an effective way to process troublesome memories of trauma.

Trauma can cause a person to disconnect from their own internal sense of safety. So, the sooner the emotions are managed, the sooner the person will recover. Hypnotherapy can help you cope with the trauma and learn how to regain a sense of control and normality in your life.
